New Forest Life Tales, Issue #Marc--A New Forest ponies, pigs and acorns July 02, 2024 |
Hello New Forest Life July 2024 update newsletterWelcome to my New Forest Life Tales Issue July 2024.
There has been lots happening lately so here we go! As soon as May began we started to see loads of little foals appearing all over the forest. The stallions are very carefully chosen so that the strongest foals are born each year and bloodlines are kept healthy. This year they seem to be really lovely on their long chunky and knobbly legs ready for them to grow into as each month passes. There seem to be quite a few male foals which aren't necessarily kept or put out on the New Forest but there is usually a healthy buy rate at the Beaulieu Road sales for a good looking little chap to go to a new home as a children's riding pony etc. Sadly, this year despite general animal road death figures being amazingly low so far there have been some foals which have already been killed. These little ponies come into the world totally unaware of road danger and are just happy to run around testing out their new legs and having fun.
They're completely unaware of roads and the danger a car can be. Please make sure your speed is very low or even stop if you see one on the road before carefully going round it. A recent motorist near Beaulieu was stopped doing 76m.p.h. on a local road. This is how hit and runs happen as the driver at this speed will cause carnage to this little life or possibly any other road user. What else is happening - on a lighter note? The New Forest Show is on again this year https://www.newforestshow.co.uk/whats-on/ The New Forest Tour Bus is now running until 13 September 2024 - it's in its 20th year! Probably one of the best ways to explore the New Forest (sit upstairs if you can) as the overview as you trundle along is great! Various towns and villages will be holding fetes this month so come along try the food, meet the animals and enjoy. Don't Forget to Buy My Book You'll be helping support World Horse Welfare, The Brook and The Donkey Sanctuary
Here's a sample of page one.
Why and What? Why an ebook of a scary New Forest fairy tale? I really believe in kindness. Living in the New Forest means sometimes a pony, donkey, cow or other animal may encounter difficulties. We always just want to keep our animals safe and let them live their lives to the full. It's always so rewarding to see them as they grow up and stay safe. I wanted to share with children, through a fairytale, how each animal out on the forest is special and needs the support of both it's family and herd but also kind people.
So, my tale is based on kindness and is told through the voice of my New Forest pony. It’s built around good and evil represented by New Forest fairies. The tale weaves its way through history when the forest was a hunting forest for an evil king. The good, kind fairies are losing their strength when faced against the evil fairies, who have been getting more power through the King to do their evil deeds. To make it more attractive to the young readers, (and to help them use their imagination to the full!) the bad fairies smell and leave a grey fug behind them whenever they fly doing their evil deeds against all the forest animals and people. All the photos are my own!
I hope the children will enjoy them as I feel they make the tale unique.
Here's a sample of the front page of the book which I hope again can help the young reader use their imagination. If you look carefully you can see the wicked, evil fairies hiding in the toadstools. Look out for the wonderful dragonfly messengers who work for the king of Angels and do good, kind deeds throughout the forest keeping the ponies and other animals safe. It's in a rather large format which try as I might I can't seem to get the size down! Visit New Forest Life Thanks so much for subscribing to my ezine. You'll find lots more pictures and information about my life within the beautiful New Forest National Park.
