How do the ponies survive this dreadful heat and no grass as it's so burnt, are they supplemented with fresh hay, they must be suffering?
Denise Brown
That's a very interesting question Denise. It's amazing how hardy the New Forest ponies and other animals are. When you look at the New Forest heathland there is actually lots for them still to eat. They prefer very short grass and are very good at finding what they particularly like. They also eat heather and tree leaves and branches!
