Keeping the airwaves clear

During the war my husband Leslie Woodling was a regular visitor to Ibsley Airfield as his work for GEC in Southampton took him there to service the sound systems. He seemed to have a soft spot for Ibsley and would show me a concrete [I believe) box at the bottom of a cottage garden which contained some equipment. He looked after 8 airfields checking amplifiers etc. He recently died (in August 2011)at the grand age of 99yrs.

Just thought this may be of interest.

Thanks for sharing this lovely memory Eileen. There are plans to restore Ibsley Control Tower to it's former glory - let's hope it happens and that when completed you'll be able to visit it and think of Leslie.
All the very best
