We were walking on the New Forest the other weekend and saw a white deer - what sort of deer was this and why was it white.
Where can we see more deer?
You would have seen a Fallow deer, these range in colour from nearly black to virtually pure white.
These deer are very vulnerable as they really do show up - even when hiding with the rest of the herd in a thick gorse bush.
There are often white fallow deer at the Bolderwood viewing platform which tells you feeding times etc. The deer come into an area where you can see them from a raised platform.
Check out the website for details of Bolderwood and more deer you may see around the New Forest.
